Biography
Cecelia Mitchell
President
Source One International, Inc.

Ms. Mitchell started her career at the Chicago offices of Skidmore Owings and Merrill, eventually leading the Department of Architectural Colors and Materials. After two years at a smaller firm, and receiving an AIA Interior Design Award for her work at Harris Bank, she opened Source One in 1986 as a special consulting firm catering to Architectural and Design firms in the area of selection and specification of colors, materials and furniture.
Ms. Mitchell has a diverse background in commercial and residential design encompassing national and international projects in Education, Healthcare, Senior Living, Government, Religious Facilities, Hospitality, and Historic Preservation. In 1990, recognizing the need for a consistent and comprehensive way to write furniture specifications, she developed the software program “Specta” that she utilized in her office and sold to other design firms. Many companies have sought out the expertise of Ms. Mitchell to collaborate on product development and color direction as well as design of custom products.
Ms. Mitchell has taught at Columbia College in the Interior Design Department. An accomplished painter and potter, she has widely exhibited in Chicago area art galleries.
Inattention to Architectural Colors and Materials is a missed opportunity. It can be the difference from a project being good to being memorable.
